About CHIME Band

CHIME Band was founded in October 2004 by a group of Chinese Microsoft employees brought together by a shared passion for music and performance, and with a clear mission: to support Asian community events and celebrate the richness of Asian music and culture through live performance.

Blending Chinese and Western musical traditions, CHIME Band’s repertoire spans rock, blues, jazz, pop, and folk, creating a sound that resonates across generations and cultures. Over the years, the band’s presence has expanded throughout the Greater Seattle area, earning a loyal and diverse audience.

Band Lead & Lead Guitar

Chan Tang

A talented all rounded musician who graduated from Tsinghua University. He is a multi-instrumentalist who can perform, compose, and produce. He is the band leader and an indispensable member.

Rhythm Guitar

Hongyu Wu

An enthusiastic musician who played in Tsinghua University's Marching Band. He has been playing Chinese rock and has never given up on his musical dream. He founded CHIME band with his Microsoft colleagues in 2004.

Rhythm Guitar

Hao Chen

He started playing guitar in college and formed a band there. Enjoys multiple hobbies, such as flying, photography, and making documentaries. He joined CHIME as a guitarist in 2018.

Lead Singer

Fan Ping

CHIME band talented lead singer, a popular and versatile performer in the Seattle music scene. Her passion for music began at a young age. She has since participated in various community performances. Fan's performances have been praised for her impressive vocal range, unmistakable stage presence, and ability to adapt to different musical styles.

Bass

Jeff Zhang

Born in Xi'an China. He joined CHIME band's as bassist since 2010. He fell in love with rock and roll in 93, learned hand stretch noodle in 97, gradually expanded his interest to jazz and blues in the early 2000s. He's a firm believer that art and music are key to evolving people and society.

Guitar

Shuai Han

By day, Shuai works in robotics; by night, he’s an active singer and guitarist in the Seattle music scene. He’s played with multiple rock projects. After years of supporting CHIME as a guest guitarist and backstage manager, Shuai officially joined the band in 2026. He also serves as band manager for the Seattle Asian Musicians’ Association (XAMA).

Drums

Lixin Qin

Started playing the drums in 2007. He has been in various bands with different styles at home and abroad. Joined CHIME band as the drummer in 2018. Also drumming for the bands Cyan Lost and Nodaphone.

Drums

Xiaoyuan Ye

Started playing drums since 2013. Beyond music, he's also a photographer with a deep love for film and street photography.Drawn to classic music and old songs, those influences naturally shape his sense of rhythm and musical expression.

Wind Instruments

Fei Chua

Started playing the trumpet in his middle school band. Saxophone is his main instrument now. He often attends community ceremonies and private parties in Seattle and plays the piano in his local church.

Marketing

Kosin Chen

CHIME band's promoter. She focuses on CHIME band digital marketing and brand awareness. She enjoys exploring and learning new things. Loves being in nature and reading.
