About CHIME Band

CHIME band started in October 2004 by a group of Chinese Microsoft Employees. We love music and enjoy performing to our fans. The CHIME mission is to support Asian community events and share Asian music culture with others. The band specializes in Chinese and Western rock-n-roll, blues, jazz, pop, and folk music. The band’s popularity has grown to communities in Greater Seattle area . CHIME band has performed in the Microsoft Asian Spring Festivals, the Seattle Chinese Art and Culture Festival, the 9th Annual Asian Pacific New Year Celebration, UW’s Spring Festival Gala, and more.

Band Lead & Lead Guitar

Chan Tang

A talented all rounded musician who graduated from Tsinghua University. He is a multi-instrumentalist who can perform, compose, and produce. He is the band leader and an indispensable member.

Rhythm Guitar

Hongyu Wu

An enthusiastic musician who played in Tsinghua University's Marching Band. He has been playing Chinese rock and has never given up on his musical dream. He founded CHIME band with his Microsoft colleagues in 2004.

Rhythm Guitar

Hao Chen

He started playing guitar in college and formed a band there. Enjoys multiple hobbies, such as flying, photography, and making documentaries. He joined CHIME as a guitarist in 2018.

Lead Singer

Fan Ping

CHIME band talented lead singer, a popular and versatile performer in the Seattle music scene. Her passion for music began at a young age. She has since participated in various community performances. Fan's performances have been praised for her impressive vocal range, unmistakable stage presence, and ability to adapt to different musical styles.

Bass

Jeff Zhang

Born in Xi'an China. He joined CHIME band's as bassist since 2010. He fell in love with rock and roll in 93, learned hand stretch noodle in 97, gradually expanded his interest to jazz and blues in the early 2000s. He's a firm believer that art and music are key to evolving people and society.

Bass

Riff Jiang

Bassist. Used to be the bassist of Microsoft's China Ninth Floor Band. Has participated in domestic Microsoft celebrations many times. Loves music and food.

Drums

Lixin Qin

Started playing the drums in 2007. He has been in various bands with different styles at home and abroad. Joined CHIME band as the drummer in 2018. Also drumming for the bands Cyan Lost and Nodaphone.

Wind Instruments

Fei Chua

Started playing the trumpet in his middle school band. Saxophone is his main instrument now. He often attends community ceremonies and private parties in Seattle and plays the piano in his local church.

Marketing

Kosin Chen

CHIME band's promoter. She focuses on CHIME band digital marketing and brand awareness. She enjoys exploring and learning new things. Loves being in nature and reading.

Marketing Assistant

Ryan Xiao

College Student. Started playing the piano at the age of six. Also plays drums and composes music. Performed piano for Chime Band’s live concert in 2022. CHIME Band marketing assistant now.
